believe that we each have the capacity to be self-directed and that
we are unique. There are times in our lives, however, when we lose
sight of this and get caught in uncomfortable circumstances, patterns
of behaviour and thinking. This creates stress, anxiety and depression.
At these times we may feel stuck or trapped in a cycle of discomfort,
believing that we are unable to escape.
Therapy
is one way of instigating change. As a therapist I work with my
clients to find a way through difficulties and create movement towards
a new way of thinking, feeling and doing things.
My
aim is to listen in order to be supportive and encouraging in the
process of change and development.
The
therapeutic relationship is important and the exchange between therapist
and client helps to create energy for change. My style is interactive
and sometimes directive to instigate movement when we agree that
it is necessary.
